Q: Which of your teachers has influenced you the most...and why?
A: Hamish Hendry, my Mysore Ashtanga Yoga teacher. This man has unmeasurable amounts of kindness and humbleness. Welcoming each and everyone to the shala with warmth and a big truful smile. His honest care and willingness to help every single student is something that all teachers (not only yoga) should have.
Q: How would you like people to feel when they leave your class?
A: I’d like them to feel love and peace. And at least a little sparkle of inspiration to live their life to its full potential.
Q: What is one of your favorite inspirational quotes right now?
A: We rise by lifting others (Robert Ingersoll). I’ve heard once a short tale about the difference between hell and heaven, which 100% illustrates, how helping each other and being kind, loving, and caring can make a huge difference in our world. So here’s the story.. One day a man said to God, “God, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.”God showed the man two doors. Inside the first one, in the middle of the room, was a large round table with a large pot of vegetable stew. It smelled delicious and made the man’s mouth water, but the people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful, but because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths. The man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering. God said, “You have seen Hell.”Behind the second door, the room appeared exactly the same. There was the large round table with the large pot of wonderful vegetable stew that made the man’s mouth water. The people had the same long-handled spoons, but they were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking. The man said, “I don’t understand.”God smiled. Q: What is your favorite posture/asana right now?
A: My favorite posture.. hmmm... I always feel so good in sleeping pigeon pose (eka pada rajakapotanasana). It is always so deep and opening, but yet relaxing and nurturing.
Q: If you could be any animal what would it be & why?
A: I’d be a cow. I just love them! There’s something majestic about this beautiful being. Eyes full of depth, humbleness, and love. Strong big body, but yet very graceful.
Q: What positive change would you like to see in the world right now?
A: Oh that’s a difficult one, I could probably write an essay on this hahaha. Very shortly, I’d like people to behave like in that short tale I’ve told earlier, like people from the ‘heaven room’. I wish people care about one another and love one another a lot more. I’d love people to stop competing and start cooperating with one another and that would really solve the rest of the problems in the world we are facing right now. Love and care instead of greed and competition.
Q: Are you pregnancy trained?
A: No, but will be.
Yoga and even more teaching yoga had uncovered the purpose, show me my path. Sharing, teaching, lifting, and inspiring others are food for my soul. It awakens a divine within me and lets me breathe the abundance of life. I always say that I don’t even know if I prefer to teach or to practice yoga more, as both fulfill my ever-seeking heart with joy and love in slightly different ways, but it feels equally amazing. So my aim, my big why is to help you to see past the illusion and recognise the divinity within, to awaken that something in your soul, heart, spirit, that makes you live your life abundantly, filled and overflown with love and happiness each day. I’m here to inspire, encourage and support you. And we will do it together through asana practice, mantras, mudras, meditation, pranayama, and all the other Sanskrit named things that we are going to explore and experience together. I’m here, let’s share the love.
Formal bit: I have been practicing yoga for more than a decade, have done over 500H of YTTs, training, courses, and almost finished MA Traditions of Yoga and Meditation at SOAS. But most importantly my guided classes are taught directly from my heart, transmitting as much knowledge, love, care, and support as I possibly can in every single class.
